Summary: Kurt is a high school student who is bullied every day because of who he is, but that is nothing compared to what happens at home, where nobody sees. Only now there’s someone who isn’t going to let him hide anymore. abused!Kurt BUT NOT BY BURT. Angst.
Why I love it: I’ve rec’d a fair few abuse!fics in the last 234 days, and this one stands out to me because usually in abuse!fics, the victim tells someone quite quickly in the story or somehow has someone to turn to and the victim is taken out of the harmful situation fairly soon, but this one is on chapter 8 now and still no one knows about the abuse. That being said, this fic is extremely sad and angsty, so just beware! The way the author has written Kurt and Blaine’s personalities is just incredible. It’s a little OC at times, but the situation is fairly far off from what it is in the show, so it makes sense. Kurt’s talks with his mother break my heart, and every scene that has his dad in it has me cringing and screaming at my computer. This fic just brings all the emotions, and I really love how the author doesn’t back away from the tough stuff, even when it must be hard to write! Also, the way canon events are incorporated into the story is great, and I love Blaine and Kurt’s friendship (and how Blaine stood up for Kurt during the ‘Grilled Cheesus’ themed chapter). If you are looking for a brilliantly written angst-fest of a story, definitely check this one out!
